Alexander MCqueen spring 2010.

Drawing from the passionate painter, who gets fully submerged in his work, McQueen has crafted a collection that clashes with formal sensibilities. Sporadically applying both splatters and hand prints of paint amongst abstract images to clean relaxed dress shirts and their companions, McQueen adds a quirkiness to the ordinary. The lapels of his shirts may be sharp to the point, but the sartorial suit is dressed down with elasticated cuffs resulting in an interesting silhouette that is refreshing. In terms of the unexpected, McQueen goes as subtle as a neutral-based spring suit with electric blue piping or more severe and attention garnering with bright pattern-driven quilting patches. Inspired or indifferent, at the end of the day, McQueen leaves you wanting more — and that is the travesty of opting out of this season’s fashion week.
